Botswana rough diamond exports weaken

rough-diamonds-4960665-e1363795432235-001Botswana’s rough diamond exports weakened during the month of March, figures published by the country’s central bank shows.

Bank of Botswana data revealed that rough diamond exports eased 7.7 percent during the period under consideration to $182.5 million against a comparative period last year.

The exports also tumbled 15.6 percent when compared to the preceding month.

Botswana accrued $216.3 million from rough diamonds exports last February.

This was a 16.5 percent decline when compared to the same period last year.

Like a domino effect, the February shipment had also registered a decline of 32.4 percent when compared to January exports, which saw the country cashing in $320.1 million.
