Pangolin Diamonds has discovered a second micro-diamond on another block of its Mmadinare diamond project in north-east Botswana.

It said in a statement that the micro-diamond and 281 ilmenite grains were found fr om 33 soil samples are located within Block 2 of the project.

The block was targeting kimberlites about 60 km east of the Block 1 area, wh ere Pangolin reported earlier this month the discovery of the first micro-diamond. It said the recovered diamond had a maximum dimension of under 0.5 millimeters.

Pangolin also said that the 281 ilmenite grains was an exceptional number from such few samples and would be sent for analysis to characterise their provenance as either crustal, kimberlitic or lower mantle in origin.

It said the high concentration of ilmenites was also considered to be significant and justifies additional sampling of the area. Pangolin had four exploration properties in Botswana.
